Sicily Tour October 2 - 10, 2022

Day 1 - Arrive in Palermo where we will meet you and transport you by private transfer to our newly refurbished 19th-century grand art nouveau luxury hotel in the center of Palermo. Unpack your bags, and meet us for a stroll “passeggiata” along the historic city streets. We’ll grab an authentic Sicilian lunch and you’ll have a chance to get acquainted with the neighborhood. Dinner locally and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 - Morning guided walking tour of Palermo, including two of the city’s oldest food markets where we will meet local merchants and experience many different Sicilian street foods, with a stop at one of the city's oldest taverna for a taste of local wines. Along the way, we will learn about Palermo's history as we observe architecture and landmarks. Afternoon visit to the quaint seaside town of Cefalù. You will have some free time to explore on your own before we meet for dinner at a restaurant overlooking the sea. Return to our hotel in Palermo overnight.
Day 3 - We’ll leave Palermo by private motorcoach and drive along the western coast of Sicily to visit Trapani with its famous Salt Museum, Salt Pans, and the beautiful windmills. We will then continue to the medieval, hilltop town of Erice. You will have the chance to enjoy their renowned pastries and enjoy lunch in town. After lunch, we head into the countryside for a visit to a winery known for wines made with the local grapes of western Sicily. After our tour and tasting, we will proceed to the southern coastal town of Menfi for a two-night stay and dinner at our luxury wine resort hotel.
Day 4 - After breakfast, we begin our cooking class with the cookbook author and executive chef from our resort. We will enjoy the fruits of our labor with lunch immediately following the class. That afternoon we board our private motorcoach to Agrigento with a private tour of the ancient, classical Greek ruins including the Valley of the Temples, the most important testimony of Greek architecture in Sicily. After the tour, we will continue to dinner at a beachside restaurant known for its amazing seafood.
Day 5 - Morning departure to an Olive Oil Producer where you will taste their award winning olive oils. A farm-to-table country style lunch will be enjoyed. Our drive across Sicily will continue to Piazza Armerina to view the extraordinary Roman mosaics of the Villa Romana Del Casale with a private tour guide. Our day continues as we drive through the countryside to our resort on the outskirts of Siracusa to enjoy some relaxing time before dinner.
Day 6 - Morning visit to the Baroque town of Ragusa, followed by an exceptional group lunch at a Two-Starred Michelin restaurant in Ragusa. After lunch depart for Siracusa for our private guided tour of Siracusa’s Archeological Park of Neapolis. Experience the largest Greek theater in Sicily, the "Ear of Dionysius" cave, famous for its unique acoustics and shape, and the Roman Amphitheater. After the tour, we will head to the historical center of Siracusa known as Ortygia. Here you will see its Duomo, piazza and wander through the ancient streets to discover its beauty. You will have free time to explore the seaside town, its chic boutiques, and enjoy dinner on your own.
Day 7 - After breakfast, we will make our way to Catania to experience the fish market, taste some of the local street foods and learn some of its history. Our journey continues as we visit an award-winning winery on the slopes of Mt. Etna for a wine tasting and tour. You will find out what makes Mount Etna one of the most sought-after wine growing regions in the world. Then we will proceed to our hotel with a sea view in Taormina. Prosecco aperitivo and canapés reception at the hotel before we head to the historic center. You will have the remainder of the evening to wander and explore this charming hillside scenic town on your own and see for yourself why the town has long attracted celebrities and literary titans.
Day 8 - Today, after breakfast, we will meet our private tour guide and take a guided tour of the Ancient Greek Theater and the historic center of town. The afternoon in Taormina is free to enjoy as you wish. We will meet in the lobby and head out for a Farewell Dinner.
Day 9 - Morning departure transfers to Catania International Airport.

Sicily is one of Italy’s most exciting wine growing regions. A new generation of winemakers has created a renaissance of exquisite wines, gaining acclaim among wine critics and wine connoisseurs from around the world. Some of the most exciting wines have been coming from vineyards surrounding Mt. Etna using Nerello Mascalese and Caricante, as well as in the southeast near the town of Vittoria, home to Cerasuola di Vittoria, Sicily’s only wine to achieve DOCG status, the highest quality designation in Italy. We’ll be tasting wines from some of the finest producers around the island.

Our Sicilian Adventure
We begin our tour in Palermo, the Arab-Norman capital of Sicily. From this point, we continue counter clockwise where our trip concludes on the east coast of the island in Catania. Along the way we will enjoy walks through UNESCO designated World Heritage Sites, eat local street food, enjoy hands-on cooking classes, dine in world-class restaurants, stay in premium historical hotels, learn about Sicily’s history culture, visit Mount Etna, Europe’s highest and most active volcano and find some time on your own to sit, relax and enjoy a gelato, espresso or cocktail in an authentic Sicilian café.

Rooted in richly layered multi-cultural invasions, Sicily’s street food and traditional cuisine are beneficiaries of its sunny island location. Experience cuisine that is diverse, exotic and downright delicious! Let’s try Sicily’s famed street food like arancini and sfincione. Taste famous eggplant dishes like caponata and pasta alla Norma, and delicious fish dishes like pasta con le sarde and grilled swordfish, but let’s not stop there, Sicily is a true paradise for dessert lovers. Let’s try some great pastries including decadent cannoli, cassata cake and homemade gelato
